The Barzani Charity Foundation is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization founded in 2005 in Erbil, the capital city of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. BCF has legal permission to work as a charitable non-governmental organization from both the Iraqi Government and the KRG. The Corona virus pandemic in 2020 has been spreading in Iraq from February 24, 2020 in the city of Najaf, when an Iranian student examined and investigation result was positive for Corona virus associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome type 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Then, other cases of Covid-19 were revealed, and there are a total of 90,220 confirmed cases in Iraq, including 3,691 deaths as of 18 July 2020. This Project is going to be a response and support from Act Now Children's Fund to Kurdish people in KRI/Iraq to overcome the Covid-19 Pandemic , which has been spreading rapidly since 20th of May 2020. This project has 3 main targeting: 1- Community Awareness and Prevention Level : Awareness campaigns / provision of Personal protecting items (face masks, hand sterilizing gel, publishing awareness brushers, hygiene stands in public places). 2 - Provision of Devices and tools for Covid-19 Centers in KRI : such as (ventilator, CPAP machine, Patient Bed, Thermometer, D.C Shock, and etc.) 3- Provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) : such as, ( White PPE Gown , surgical mask , N-95 Mask , sterilized gloves , face shield, and etc.) which is very important in Corona Center and Most of the time the Medical Staffs will run out of some important PPE items. The Purpose and Aims of the Project is health promotion and awareness campaigns for 10 days which lead to raising awareness of the community (some people in the community still don’t believe in the existence of Coronavirus ), providing protection tools such as Face Mask , Hand sterilizer , Hygiene stand, PPE, and equipments for Covid-19 Center to be used for management of (moderate and sever cases ).
